Bridgefield specializes in distressed credit and deep value event driven investing. We focus on opportunities across the corporate capital structure and across the distressed cycle to find investments with attractive risk reward ratios. The goal is to provide equity-like returns with credit-like risk and volatility in an uncorrelated fashion.
The Bridgefield strategy seeks to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns primarily by focusing on the distressed debt and undervalued securities of U.S. companies. In addition, Bridgefield may invest in real estate debt or equity.
Bridgefield generally focuses on:
Companies in financial distress or undergoing a turnaround
Companies in bankruptcy, reorganization or liquidation
Companies that are undervalued because of discrete extraordinary events
Bridgefield's experienced investment professionals seek “good companies with bad balance sheets”— firms with sustainable businesses and positive cash flow but whose financial situation is distressed. The investment team conducts extensive research and analysis using Bridgefield's top-down/bottom-up approach to find undervalued opportunities and typically seeks to make non-operational control investments in troubled businesses. This provides the strategy maximum trading flexibility and allows Bridgefield's investment professionals to focus on pre-investment research and analysis rather than post-investment operating issues.
The strategy generally targets:
Stressed high yield debt
Restructured and post-reorganization equities
Our group consists of seasoned finance and operational professionals with corporate turn around experience, commercial banking, buy side and sell side experience in loan workouts, restructurings and distressed investing. The team focuses on developing and maintaining positive and cohesive relationships and being widely available to all constituents so outcomes can be achieved in a streamlined, practical manner.
Our strategy is particularly focused towards identifying companies with strategic importance in their sector that may be poorly capitalized (e.g. more debt than the company can sustain) or some other idiosyncratic event, and assisting them on a path of long term success benefiting the firms employees, and other constituents, and ultimately to our investors.
